HARRIETT ALLCROFT CD LAUNCH

Tonight, Harriett Allcroft launches her keenly anticipated debut album Archie. Recorded with James Bowers, Tamara Murphy, Kieran Rafferty and Shaun Rammers earlier this year, the quintet has been eagerly awaiting its release. The wait is finally over!

Onstage, Harriett is affable and warm, and will have you in fits of laughter with her casual offhand remarks before launching effortlessly into a soul-bearing, poignant ballad. Harriett’s vocal ability is virtuosic and the way in which she weaves and floats around melodies is truly something to be heard. Her original compositions are filled with sneaky infectious grooves and clever lyrics that make the brain tick. Tonight, bringing this music to life are the immensely talented Sam Keevers, Tamara Murphy, Kieran Rafferty and Shaun Rammers. Together, this band will take you on the journey of Archie from start to finish.

Harriett Allcroft is an Australian vocalist and composer, known for her mesmerising yet light-hearted style. Leader of the Harriett Allcroft Quintet, Harriett performs original contemporary jazz, re-arrangements of Australian jazz tunes, and a selection of classic standards, all approached with trademark playfulness and whimsy.

Originally from Adelaide, Harriett relocated to Melbourne in 2014, where she has quickly ensconced herself in the thriving local jazz scene – in addition to leading her own groups, she has been a feature performer with the Daryl McKenzie Jazz Orchestra and Andrew Murray’s ATM15. Harriett is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Music, and also studied at the California Jazz Conservatory with renowned performers Theo Bleckmann and Laurie Antonioli; in 2016 she was a finalist in the prestigious James Morrison Vocal Scholarship.
