Ilaria Crociani
From award-winning lyricist and composer Ilaria Crociani comes Connecting the Dots: a powerful and deeply moving tribute to women from Australia's past and beyond. Born from Crociani’s personal experience of adjusting to a new life as an Italian migrant to Australia, Connecting the Dots weaves together narratives of hardship, vulnerability, resoluteness and redemption to paint an uplifting picture of resilience and hope. Protagonists of this music are truly inspirational female characters: some forgotten such as pioneer miner Minnie Berrington or migrants Gina Sinozich and Marion Bell and others unforgettable as in Germaine Greer or Veruschka. The album offers a kaleidoscopic variety of songs, ranging from poignant and lyrical ballads to experimental numbers with a jazz-rock feel or an angular funky-reggae beat and Ilaria is beyond delighted to be able to present it at this year MWIJF in a special, intimate and acoustic set alongside co-composers Mirko Guerrini and Niko Schäuble. She hopes this music will be able to inspire people to research, listen to and appreciate other people's stories as a meaningful learning path to healing and personal growth.
