Unmissable artistry. Unmistakable chemistry. naked raven is quite simply a stand out.
The music of naked raven has always been about beauty and intricate detail. Refined, sophisticated, gourmet pop in the hands of virtuoso artists. Possessed of a spaciousness that gives the listener time and transports them to a place away from the world and everyday life, the artistry of naked raven is commanding, generous, and moving.
This band is an enduring musical partnership, converging around life and art for the past 23 years. After a significant hiatus, naked raven brings songs from their newly-released 7th studio album - The Space Between - to MWIJF/Jazzlab. Written and produced by Janine Maunder (Kate Ceberano, the late Renee Geyer, Flying Cowboys), at its heart, The Space Between is about three dear friends who felt compelled individually and collectively to return to the studio, in response to the state of the world and the transitions, joy, and fragility of life. Despite the ravens’ serious skin in the game, it’s almost a coming-of-age album. Nothing to prove, just a renewed understanding that the world needs artists to keep bringing the beauty and using their talent to make the world better for people in small and big ways.
Layered, cinematic, captivating, and achingly beautiful, this performance will be a highlight.

English rock band Radiohead rose to fame in the ‘90s and became one of the most exciting and experimental outfits of their generation. Now a new era of musicians is turning to the group’s iconic back catalogue and finding ways to reinvent the music as their own.
Melbourne ensemble The Radiohead Project transforms the music for jazz quartet. Inspired by Radiohead’s radically deconstructed approach to composition and performance, the band explores Radiohead’s affinity for jazz, performing works from well-known records such as OK Computer, Kid A and Amnesiac. For fans, this promises to be a dreamy, intimate take on imaginative works you have long admired.
Jazz vocalist Amelia Evans is one of Melbourne’s rising stars. She’s performed with the likes of Terri-Lyne Carrington, James Morrison and Linda Oh, collaborated with pianist Bob Sedergreen on her debut album The First Song, and won a score of awards including the 2017 Generations In Jazz Vocal Scholarship, the Margaret Schofield Music Performance Scholarship (VCAA) and the Monash-Pratt Music Performance Jazz Scholarship. Evans was a finalist in the 2020 National Jazz Awards and a recipient of the James Morrison Generations in Jazz Vocal Scholarship, and has recorded with ABC Jazz alongside Mal Stanley to create her debut album in 2019.The Radiohead Project is a chance to see the young artist in collaboration with her exceptional band.
