Nat Bartsch: Hope
In 2021, pianist/composer Nat Bartsch released her critically-acclaimed album, Hope, for piano, string quartet and electronics (ABC Classic).. This music responds to the Black Summer bushfires, Trump, lockdowns and the pandemic. What was originally intended to be a ‘hopeful’ album became hope as an abbreviation of hopefulness and hopelessness, with her music exploring the space between. Ultimately, however, her cathartic lyrical music, as always, leaves the listener feeling at peace. This album is nominated for the ARIA for Best Classical Album, following on from Nat’s 2020 nomination for her jazz lullaby album Forever More (which closed the 2019 MWIJF). Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience this album live in full, with string quartet.
